Last week the annual FIS Spring Meetings went down in a virtual format, and with one of the biggest weeks of the off-season now behind us we’re once again firing up the Monday Mix to keep you up-to-date and (hopefully) entertained through the next few months as we look forward to the start of the 2021/22 competition season.

With the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games looming on the horizon there were few major decisions or changes implemented at last week's meetings. However, the future of our competitions after the Games was very much on everyone’s mind, with all of our respective Sub-committees - Park & Pipe, Snowboard Cross, and Snowboard Alpine - having some deep conversations about how to grow and improve as we move forward. Hit the links in that last line to read more about what went down in the meetings (Alpine recap coming on Tuesday).

And now to properly resurrect the Monday Mix you know and love it. will come to know and love by the the time you finish reading. Hopefully.

We'll kick things off with a little crossover magic from Takeru Otsuka, who took some time off from tearing up the Redbull Recharged course to mess around in the Mammoth halfpipe last week. Of course, the phrase “mess around” for Takeru actually translates to something “stomp a switch frontside dub 10 first try,” in Japanese...we think. Look out Yuto, Takeru is coming…

Speaking of the Recharged comp, there was plenty of fun content coming out of the event there in Mammoth last week, which is now in its third season after being launched by Mark McMorris and Ben Fergusson back in 2019. Dusty Henricksen and Jamie Anderson took the respective wins this year, and while we're not sure where exactly the full run clips are hiding, you can find bits and pieces all over insta...

While Mr. McMorris was on the scene there in Mammoth the guys from the Bomb Hole podcast caught up with him for a lengthy interview. The freshly-crowned big air World Champion did not disappoint, coming through with his typical humour and insight...

Back to Jamie Anderson for a minute: we know this is a few weeks old now, but have you seen the Snowcats clip yet? To call Monster's women's team "stacked" is maybe underselling it a little bit, and watching Jamie, Chloe Kim, Kokomo Murase, Annika Morgan, Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, and Jill Perkins all checking in and throwing down heavy in a few days of riding at Sierra-at-Tahoe is a real treat - especially when Jamie and Zoi start playing the one-up game later in the clip. Phew. Give this a watch, and then a rewatch...

For lucky snowboarders around the world, the coming of spring means the coming of slushy laps in the park and goggle tans. For lucky highschoolers around the world, the coming of spring means the coming of graduation and moving on to the next phase of adulthood. For Tessa Maude, the coming of spring means a little bit of both, as the US rookie team member took her graduation cap and gown to the slopes for a celebratory session...

Heading north a couple thousand kilometers now to Sunshine Village, Alberta, where the Canadian team has been holding training sessions for the last few of weeks. Your 2020/21 second-overall finisher on the men's World Cup slopestyle rankings Liam Brearley was there and ripping per usual, dropping what appears to be a triple wildcat - although it seems he's still accepting naming suggestions for the trick over on his IG...

It's not all triple cats, t-shirts and barbeque everywhere around the world just yet, however, as Aspen 2021 World Champs halfpipe bronze medallist Jan Scherrer can attest to. Getting whiteroomed in Crans Montana in the middle of May? Yes please...

We were hyped to see this one coming out of Rosa Khutor last week, where Mikhail Matveev has been ripping it up since winning the slopestlye comp at the Russian national championships a few weeks ago. Pure spring stoke at the Sochi 2014 Olympic venue...nice.

Meanwhile, just a quick 38 hours drive north in Ruka, Enni Rukijarvi stacked a couple nice clips for her own late-season update. The steeze on that nosepress pretz tho...

Quick shoutout to Toby Miller, who's back on board after injuring his ankle at the X Games back in January. Sunny side hits make us smile...

We'll let Scotty James shut it down for this week, coming thru with a shirtless lip slasher of truly epic proportions...

Beautiful.

Well, it sure is good to be back and Mix'ing it up. See ya next week!
