After over a month off, the FIS Snowboard slopestyle season is set for a two week sprint to the World Cup finish line, beginning next week in Tignes (FRA) where snowboarding has been added to the Mountain Shaker festival week competition programme for the first time.

The previous - and only - snowboard slopestyle World Cup of the 2023/24 season took place in Laax (SUI) back on 20 January. From there we moved on to Mammoth Mountain (USA) for the U.S. Grand Prix, where slopestyle was unfortunately cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions.

With a scheduled trip to Spindleruv Mlyn (CZE) also cancelled due to snowpack issues in the area, and only the season-ender in Silvaplana (SUI) from 21-23 March on the menu, the 2023/24 FIS Snowboard World Cup was faced with the possibility of only having a two-event slopestyle season and thus being unable to award crystal globes for this winter’s campaign.

Thankfully Tignes was able to step up and add snowboarding to a busy programme that already included freeski slopestyle and big air. Should everything go according to plan there in France we will be well on our way to a full, three-stop campaign leading up to crystal globe presentations for the top riders of their season come 23 March in Switzerland.

Training in Tignes gets underway on Monday next week, with women’s qualifications on Thursday, men’s on Friday morning, and finals for the top women and men dropping in on Friday afternoon, 15 March, beginning at 13:15 CET.

Stay tuned for plenty more coming out of Tignes next week!
